TERRIERS 5, ICE WOLVES 4

The Yorkton Terriers stormed out early, and then hung on late in s 5-4 road victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Friday night. 

The Terriers struck first just under 3 minutes in as Colton Koran capitalized on a turnover in front to make it 1-0 before Jaron Desnoyers netted two of his own to make it a three-goal game just under 8 minutes in.

Dylan Handel got the Ice Wolves on the board late in the 1st to make it 3-1 Yorkton after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, the Terriers added to their lead as Anthony McIntosh’s PP point shot beat a screened Topher Chirico to regain the three goal lead and then Jye Zawatsky took a nice feed from Brett Butz & went short-side shelf for his 11th to increased Yorkton’s lead to 5-1 through 2 periods. 

The Ice Wolved would make it a game in third, outshooting the Terriers 19-13 and adding three from Parker Layton, Jacob Hufty and Jaxson Martin to cut it within one but that’s as close as they would get.

Terriers’ G Ethan Farrow made 41 saves on 45 shots to earn his 10th victory of the season, while Topher Chirico in the La Ronge net stopped 37 shots. 

The Terriers head to Flin Flon for a pair of weekend games starting on Saturday night at the Whitney Forum, while Ice Wolves battle Nipawin on Saturday in Kinistino a part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.

MILLIONAIRES 4, HAWKS 3 (SO)

The Melville Millionaires captured their fifth straight on Friday night, a 4-3 shootout decision over the Nipawin Hawks. 

Flynn Maxcy tied the game for Melville in the third and then netted the shootout winner. 

Elliot Mikesch and Payton Kostyshyn also scored for the Millionaires who got 36 saves from William Dyke. 

Finley Radloff, Vito Biondo and Evan Forrest replied for the Hawks. 

The Millionaires are back on home ice on Saturday night hosting the Notre Dame Hounds.
